Maybelline Tattoo Brow

I don’t like writing bad reviews, especially when it’s a product from a brand I love, as you’ll have probably noticed. Usually if I don’t adore a product,  I just won’t talk about it, but this time I’ve got to. Okay so I don’t hate the Maybelline Tattoo Brow, but I didn’t love it either and I’m going to explain why.

So my eyebrows are a bit non-existent, they’re blonde, they’re sparse and they’re thin. I spend way too much time doing them everyday so I thought this would be the perfect product for me. I’d seen the videos, watched the reviews, been recommended it by countless people. I’d seen for myself how it also tints the skin, which is exactly what I needed, just as a bit of a helping hand so that when I filled my own brows, they didn’t need as much work, but it didn’t work for me half as well as it has done for other people. I’d also seen the bad reviews so luckily I didn’t expect too much from it in the first place.

The first time I tried it (I was terrified of it) it felt like a complete waste of time to be honest, I guess I didn’t leave it for long enough (probably about 30-40 minutes altogether) and it did tint my brows, even the tiny little hairs which really helped shape my brows to make it easier for me to fill them in, but by the next day it had basically faded to nothing and I was back to square one. I tried it again of course, left it for a bit longer and this did work a lot better but it still faded. And when I tried it again for even longer, it worked better but again faded within 3 days. When I tint my brows myself, with proper tint it works better than this which is a shame because the main reason I bought it in the first place was because tinting my eyebrows with proper tint is a mess-about job that I don’t particularly like doing.

I have used it a few times since and each time it’s been a bit hit and miss. I’ve tried using different cleansers and so on to see if they’ll make any difference, to avoid the fading and nothing has. Just sometimes it seems to take better than others, no matter how long I keep it on. I absolutely love it when it seems to work well, and that’s why I don’t hate it, it makes the job of filling my brows daily so much easier but then sometimes it just doesn’t seem to take and fades within a day or two. I don’t know if it’s my skin, the one I bought or what but it just isn’t as good or as useful as I hoped it would be. If I was to recommend it, I’d only recommend it to someone with full brows that doesn’t rely on it too much otherwise you might be left disappointed. It’s not good enough to ‘add brows’ or fill in the big gaps at all, but it works really well at tinting the brows that you already have if that’s all you’re looking for!

Have you tried the Tattoo Brow? Did it work for you?

  1. I always get my eyebrows waxed and tinted at benefit, but it can get so expensive!! Ive never actually heard of this product before, so I was intrigued to know more. Its a shame that it doesn’t really work very well though… I wonder if it would work better on darker brows? I might try it at some point but Im not so sure! xx
